Income Confirmation for Current Students
Current students who have not received a BU need-based scholarship in the past are welcome to apply for aid by the April 1 deadline.
In addition to filing the CSS Profile™ and FAFSAThe Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) is used to determine eligibility for state and federal grants, scholarships, and loans. The FAFSA can be completed on the Federal Student Aid website., submit the following documents directly to BU Financial Assistance by email to verify income.
- Your signed federal income tax return for the appropriate tax yearSubmit 2023 tax year forms if your BU enrollment will start September 2025 or your College of General Studies enrollment will start January 2026. Submit 2022 tax year forms if your BU enrollment will start January 2025.. If the IRS does not require that you file a tax return, complete the Income Tax Non-Filer Statement.
- Your parents’ signed federal income tax return for the appropriate tax yearSubmit 2023 tax year forms if your BU enrollment will start September 2025 or your College of General Studies enrollment will start January 2026. Submit 2022 tax year forms if your BU enrollment will start January 2025. (including all schedules). If the IRS does not require that your parents file a tax return, complete the Income Tax Non-Filer Statement.
- Copies of all your parents’ W-2 forms for the appropriate tax yearSubmit 2023 tax year forms if your BU enrollment will start September 2025 or your College of General Studies enrollment will start January 2026. Submit 2022 tax year forms if your BU enrollment will start January 2025..
- If your FAFSAThe Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) is used to determine eligibility for state and federal grants, scholarships, and loans. Foreign Income – If you and/or your parents filed a foreign tax return, submit signed copies of the foreign return and its English translation. Provide the foreign tax return which covers income earned for at least 6 months of the appropriate tax yearSubmit 2023 tax year forms if your BU enrollment will start September 2025 or your College of General Studies enrollment will start January 2026. Submit 2022 tax year forms if your BU enrollment will start January 2025.. If both U.S. and foreign tax returns were filed, submit both. If you and/or your parents were not required to file EITHER a U.S. tax return or a foreign return, complete and submit the Foreign Income Verification Form.
