Role of the PCP

PCPs are the health care providers who see and treat the majority of depression in patients.

They must play a key role in screening for this disabling disease.

In 2002, the US Preventive Services Task Force (USPSTF) issued a new recommendation that PCPs routinely screen ALL their adult patients for depression.
