Brian Kopcza

 

Brian is a board certified ambulatory care clinical pharmacy specialist and certified diabetes educator. He is available for consults/visits Monday through Friday in Family Medicine. He completed a PGY2 ambulatory care residency at the University of Washington Medicine at Harborview Medical Center in Seattle, WA. Special interests include diabetes management, asthma/COPD, transitions of care, patient counseling, and mentoring. Outside of work he enjoys traveling, learning about cultures and good food.

 

 

Melanie Greer

(PGY2 Ambulatory Care Resident)

Melanie is the PGY2 Ambulatory Care Pharmacy Resident at BMC. She received her doctorate from University of Missouri-Kansas City in 2017 and completed her Community Pharmacy PGY1 residency at Cleveland Clinic in Cleveland, Ohio. In her spare time, she likes to travel, be outside, spend time with family and friends and try new foods.

Kyle Bertram

Kyle is a board certified ambulatory care clinical pharmacy specialist, focused on Complex Care Management (CCM) for Family Medicine. His focus is medication management for the top 2% of MassHealth utilizers in the BMCHP ACO (BACO).  He works with the embedded CCM team to see patients at home, in temporary housing/shelters, or can also hold clinic appointments.  He completed a PGY2 ambulatory care residency at Grady Health System in downtown Atlanta, GA.  Special interests include lipid management, diabetes mellitus, health literacy, and patient education.  Outside of work, he enjoys the beach, traveling, and cooking.

Gregory Mainella

Gregory is an outpatient pharmacist that is part of the Medication Refill Center Team for GIM. He received his doctorate from MCPHS University and started working as a floater for a Supermarket/Pharmacy chain after graduation. He joined team BMC as a Yawkey Outpatient Pharmacist and later transitioned into his current role last year. Special interest include pharmacy regulation for which he is certified in. He has a twin and an older brother, both of which are nurses currently going to school to become NPs.

Kayla Blanche

Kayla is the pharmacy care liaison for Family Medicine. The pharmacy liaison acts as a link between the outpatient pharmacy, patient, insurance company, and clinic by resolving prescription related issues and offering services that promote medication adherence. Kayla came to us from Rite Aid pharmacy where she worked for about 4 years, before joining the BMC team in May 2014. Kayla just became a mom to a beautiful baby girl and on her spare time enjoys spending time with her family.

 

 

Anita Palanukorn

Anita is a pharmacy patient liaison in the Shapiro Specialty Pharmacy team. The pharmacy patient liaison acts as a link between the outpatient pharmacy, patient, insurance company, and clinic by resolving prescription related issues and offering services that promote medication adherence. Anita came from a retail pharmacy where she worked for about 2 years, before joining the BMC team in May 2018. Outside of work, Anita enjoys hiking throughout New England, bird-watching, reading, and visiting family in Thailand.

 

 

 

Pharmacy Management
 

Sonia Alva

Sonia is the manager of ACO/CCM and ambulatory clinical pharmacy.  Special interests include diabetes management, complex care management, population management, practice transformation and integrated health.  She is proficient in Spanish and speaks conversational Portuguese.  Sonia enjoys spending time with her family, learning about people, cultures and traveling to new places.

 

Leandra Battisti

Leandra is the Manager of Specialty Pharmacy Operations and Project Management at BMC. She currently oversees the GIM HCV program, GIM liaisons, and the Medication Refill Center, amongst other Specialty Programs at BMC. She graduated from Northeastern in 2009 and started at BMC in February of 2013, beginning in Shapiro Pharmacy. She previously worked in GIM as a clinical pharmacist for the HCV treatment program for almost 2 years before recently transitioning to management. Special interests include HCV and addiction.

 

Joseph Falinski

Joseph P. Falinski, Pharm.D., is the Ambulatory Clinical Pharmacy Coordinator at Boston Medical Center, managing all personnel and operations in the development of enhanced ambulatory pharmacy services. Prior to BMC, he was a clinical pharmacist managing chronic disease patients at Cambridge Health Alliance, a referral-based primary care service in Cambridge, MA. He earned his Pharm.D. from Northeastern University, where he also completed his residency in 2012 with a focus on ambulatory care and teaching with Harbor Health Services in Boston’s Dorchester neighborhood.  He has worked with Health Volunteers Overseas in Kampala, Uganda to help implement best practices at the Mulago National Referral Hospital and Makerere University School of Pharmacy. His interests include population health, policy improvement, and incorporating pharmacists into team-based primary care practices.
