Global Healthcare Challenges in the 21st Century Trans-Atlantic Perspectives
On March 6th, 2007, Boston University welcomed Dr. Stefan Winter MD, advisor to the World Health Organization since 2000. Between 2001 and 2005, Dr. Winter was the General Director for Health at the Federal Ministry of Health, headed the Health General Directorate and he represented Germany as Chief Medical Officer at the Meeting of Chief Medical Officers of the European Union. Additionally, from 2004 onward, Dr. Winter has been Associate Professor for Health Policy and Health Care System Research at Hannover Medical School and a faculty member at Harvard Medical International.
At the time of Dr. Winter’s lecture at BU, he was State Secretary of the Ministry for Labour, Health and Social Affairs in Düsseldorf, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany, and went on to serve in this position until 2008. Following this, Dr. Winter worked as the Chief Medical Officer and Member of the Board for CompuGroup Medical Link from 2008 to 2010. He was also a Senior-Partner at PKS Kommunikations- und Strategieberatung GmbH from 2012 to 2017.
Moderating this lecture was Mark Allan, Executive Director of the Institute for Health System Innovation and Policy. Allan is also a Faculty Member at the Questrom School of Business and at the BU Medical School, Department of Family Medicine.
