Great Power Rivalry in the Middle East | Lasting Legacies (02/19/26)
Join us for the next event in the BU CSE Decentering Europe Series. Presented by BU Professor Erik Goldstein and moderated by BU Professor Aimee Genell. The event will delve into how decades of great power rivalries in the Middle East shaped the region for decades and set the stage for the current Middle East. This event is co-sponsored by the BU International History Institute and the BU Middle East and North Africa (MENA) Initiative.
This event takes place as part of the Center for the Study of Europe’s Decentering Europe series, the aim of which is to promote a critical understanding of Europe through its complex heritage, which owes its richness to countless contributions from other regions of the world. In an increasingly multipolar world, we believe Europe can only be understood in relation to other sites of socio-cultural production, political engagement, and economic transformation. The focus of this year’s Decentering Europe events is Europe and the Middle East.
