Event Highlights: A Reading & Conversation with Polish poet Krystyna Dąbrowska and translator Karen Kovacik
This reading and conversation took place at Boston University on Thursday, November 10, 2022. The occasion for the event – a collaboration between BU’s MFA Program in Literary Translation, the Poetry Reading Series, and the Center for the Study of Europe – was the recent publication by Zephyr Press of Tideline, a new collection of poems by the award-winning Polish poet Krystyna Dąbrowska. Dąbrowska was joined in conversation by Karen Kovacik, one of the book’s three translators.
Many of the poems in Tideline address daily life; others delve into the Holocaust, family relationships, and travels — to Cairo, Georgia, Jerusalem. Tideline is Dąbrowska’s first book in English, presented bilingually with the original Polish.
Co-sponsored by the Boston University Center for the Humanities, the Poetry Reading Series, the Center for Interdisciplinary Teaching & Learning at the College of General Studies, the MFA Program in Literary Translation, and the Center for the Study of Europe.
