Summer 2024 Study Abroad in Warsaw
Now in its 10th year, this summer program provides participants with unique perspectives on security issues in and from the perspective of Central Europe – and a resume-building experience. The 4-week in-person course is based in Warsaw, with travel to Berlin and Krakow. It is followed by a two-week online research internship with the Terrorism Research Centre. Papers developed during this internship will be published as part of Volume 7 of Security and Society in the Information Age.
The course offers a broad overview of the modern security challenges faced by the countries of Central Europe and more broadly by NATO and the European Union. This year the focus will be on the regional and global implications of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine and the evolving conflicts in the region and globally. Topics include hybrid threats, cybersecurity, terrorism, information warfare, the role of AI and other innovations, international law relating to war, and peacebuilding.
Program dates (abroad): May 25 – June 22, 2024
Application deadline: March 1, 2024
Cost: $5,850
Credits: 4 US semester credits
Students looking to gain more experience in the region may continue with Russian language study in Latvia, Georgia or Armenia – or Ukrainian or Polish language study in Warsaw.
