Event Highlights: Robert Lecourt: ECJ Judge and Constitutional Architect
This lecture by William Phelan, Associate Professor and Jean Monnet Chair at Trinity College Dublin, took place at Boston University’s Pardee School of Global Studies on Thursday, April 27, 2023. It was moderated by Vlad Perju, Professor of Law at Boston College, and Daniela Caruso, Jean Monnet Chair and Professor of Law at Boston University. Vera Fritz, Marie Sklodowska-Curie Fellow at the University of Copenhagen, and MItchel Lasser, Jack G. Clarke Professor of Law at Cornell University joined via Zoom.
Professor Phelan’s presentation draws connections between the ‘constitutional’ doctrines of European law first declared by the Court of Justice in 1963 and 1964, and the constitutional revisions pursued by Robert Lecourt as a leading politician in Fourth Republic France.
