Event Highlights: The Euro after the Pandemic—The Case for a Permanent Fiscal Capacity
In this talk, which took place on Tuesday, November 1, 2022, Federico Fabbrini describes how COVID-19 challenged the constitutional architecture of economic governance in the European Union, leading to the introduction of NextGenerationEU, a €800 million economic recovery fund to repair the economic and social damage of the pandemic, and makes the case for a permanent fiscal capacity and further European integration in light of the war in Ukraine.
Federico Fabbrini is a Fellow in Law at Princeton University and Full Professor of European Law at the School of Law & Government at Dublin City University (DCU). He is also the founding director of the DCU Brexit Institute, where he is the Principal Investigator of the EU-funded Jean Monnet Network BRIDGE and the EU-funded Jean Monnet Centre of Excellence REBUILD.
