In her recently published book, The Seventh Member State: Algeria, France, and the European Community, Megan Brown, Assistant Professor of History at Swarthmore College, tells the surprising story of how Algeria joined and then left the postwar European Economic Community and what its past inclusion means for extracontinental membership in today’s European Union. Prof. Brown joined us on Monday, July 25, via Zoom to discuss her book withProf. Dr. Kiran Klaus Patel, Chair of European history at Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität, and Peo Hansen, Professor of Political Science at REMESO, Linköping University, Sweden.
