Event Highlights: The Welfare State at Risk

On Tuesday, March 29, 2016, Center for the Study of Europe Visiting Researcher Patrick Sachweh, Assistant Professor of Sociology at Goethe University Frankfort, gave a talk on the European welfare state for an audience of students, faculty, and local researchers. Sachweh discussed changes in social policy and growing inequality in Europe in years leading up to the financial crisis and implications for the future of social provision and the welfare state. The talk was moderated by Sigrun Olofsdottir, Associate Professor of Sociology at Boston University and a member of the Center’s Executive Board.
