Apply now for Fall 2016 TransAtlantic graduate program at UNC-CH now accepting applications
The Center for European Studies and European Union Center of Excellence at UNC-Chapel Hill is pleased to announce that applications for the 2016-2018 cohort of the TransAtlantic Masters program are now being accepted.
APPLICATION DEADLINE: January 12, 2016
TAM trains graduate students pursuing international careers in administration, diplomacy, business, policy-making, consulting, teaching, and research. Offered by way of partnerships between world-renowned universities in the United States, Europe, and the Middle East, TAM is a unique and intensive degree program. TAM students pursue graduate study on both sides of the Atlantic while earning a master’s degree. Our graduates have gone on to exciting careers in federal service, NGOs and thank tanks, industry, and university administration and teaching.
For instance, Amanda S., TAM Class of 2008, now works for NATO’s International Staff Political Affairs and Security Policy Division in Brussels. She explains,
I owe my staying power at NATO in a large part to the TAM program…TAM taught me three things that were essential for my job, related to methodology, substance and outlook…The beauty of the TAM program for me, moreover, remains the outlook on integration that it affords us as young atlanticists. TAM and Euromasters students assimilate and form peer relationships that are blind to national origins and linguistic barriers. In that way, we personify the Trans-Atlantic bond. This capacity for trust and cultural curiosity is something that I carried with me to Brussels.
Megan P., TAM Class of 2014, now works at the Atlantic Council in Washington, DC. She notes that
[t]he opportunity to study political science on both sides of the Atlantic is really unique, and I think it is the real asset of the program. Not only did I study European politics from world-renown scholars at UNC but also at an impressive university in Europe as well.
Applications are welcome from students world-wide. Applicants must have completed an undergraduate degree from an accredited college or university, or its international equivalent, preferably in a relevant subject area (Political Science, History, International Relations, European Studies, American Studies, Economics, or modern languages) by the summer of 2016. All students are expected to be proficient in English and at least one other language.
