Getting To Know The European Union: Austria
Boston University held a discussion on November 5th, 2007, entitled Getting to Know the European Union: Austria. Participating in the conversation was Dr. Wolfgang Renezeder, who has served as Director of the Austrian Press and Information Service since 2006. His office is situated at the Austrian Embassy in Washington, D.C. Prior to that appointment, Renezeder was stationed at an embassy in Moscow for three years, where he was First Secretary for Political and Economic Affairs.
Renezeder was also notably involved in negotiating for and then implementing the international agreements concerning the Austrian Reconciliation Fund. This fund was created in December 2000 in order to distribute reparatory payments to those who were once forced laborers under Nazi rule.
Director Renezeder earned his doctorate in law from the University of Vienna. Alan Berger moderated the discussion, which aired on February 10th, 2008.
