German-Polish Relations in Today’s Europe

On October 17th, 2006, Boston University welcomed Janusz Reiter and Klaus Scharioth for a discussion titled German-Polish Relations in Today’s Europe. Janusz Reiter, Polish diplomat, was Ambassador of the Republic of Poland to the United States from 2005 to 2008, and now serves as President and Founder for the Center for International Relations, Warsaw. This center is an independent think-tank based in Warsaw, Poland. Reiter played a significant role in reshaping Polish-German relations after the end of the Cold War.

Klaus Scharioth is a German diplomat who served as Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany to the United States from 2006 to 2011. He served as a member of the German Foreign Service for more than 35 years (1976-2011). Currently, Scharioth is Professor of Practice at the Fletcher School, Tufts University, where he received his PhD. He is also Dean of the Mercator College for International Affairs in Germany.
