Chris Simons takes on undergraduate programming at BU Central
Premed student Chris Simons took on a second role this year as BU Central’s undergraduate programming assistant.
Chris Simons (CAS’06) spends his afternoons and evenings working closely with various student groups coordinating entertainment at BU Central, the University’s late-night venue. As one of three student managers, Simons assists Josh Hiscock, coordinator of programs, in the planning and execution of events.
A premed student, Simons took on a second role this year as BU Central’s undergraduate programming assistant. His job entails mainly supervising staff, organizing schedules, ordering equipment, and writing reviews. However, he says he is also “the first line in helping students plan events in the room.” Student groups must sit down with Simons to plan their event long before the date of the performance.
“I had a large role in planning BU’s Funniest Student Competition,” says Simons. “I thought it was really cool that we could showcase BU student talent — it was a very student-centered night.” Recent events Simons has helped organize include the December 9 Holiday Coffeehouse and the Terriers and Touchdowns Sunday Night Football on December 11.
