Director of Health Prevention & Promotion, Student Health Services

What is the honor you’ve received?

I received the Institutional Impact Award from the New England College Health Association, which recognizes college health professionals who have made exceptional contributions to their institution through innovative programs, policies, and student support.

Why did you receive the award?

I received this award for my collaborative leadership on several committees and for institutionalizing prevention programs at BU that now serve as models for other universities seeking creative, effective, and student-centered approaches to health promotion.

Why is it meaningful to you?

This award recognizes my 15 years of commitment to building an environment that supports students’ health and well-being. It highlights prevention work that’s become part of the fabric of BU, like the Condom Fairy program, the Good Samaritan policy, and support for the community around World Mental Health Day. This award also honors the many students, colleagues, and campus partners who have embraced this work over the years. BU is a big place, and change happens slowly. Receiving this award is a moment to reflect on the people, public health principles, and shared dedication that underpin institutional impact.

What’s next for you?

This is a challenging time for public health and the well-being of our community. I will continue to commit to our values, to foster collaboration that uplifts resources for students, faculty, and staff, and to support my team in caring for ourselves and others as we continue the steady, critical work of health promotion.
