Professor Robert Kaufmann featured in BU Today
Earth & Environment Professor Robert Kaufmann was featured in the July 15th issue of BU Today to discuss the impact of regulations on Big Oil in curbing climate change. The article titled Vermont Will Charge Big Oil for Past Climate Change. Should Massachusetts Follow? is written by Rich Barlow.
Vermont recently became the first state in the nation to require Big Oil—extractors, refiners, and producers to pay for past damages they caused that have contributed to climate change in the state. Other states, including Massachusetts, are now considering similar bills. In this Q&A, Robert Kaufmann, a BU professor of earth and environment, weighs in on what impact such legislation might have on curbing climate change.
