Chris leads the advancement of activities and strategies that enhance academic innovation at Boston University. He collaborates with schools and colleges to ensure the alignment of digital strategies and the introduction of new pedagogies and technologies that further the University’s evolution as a leading 21st century global educational institution. Chris works in concert with other members of senior academic leadership to provide guidance to the University’s newly launched Shipley Center, the Center for Teaching & Learning (CTL) and the Educational Technology team (EdTech). Chris leads BU’s involvement as part of the edX consortium, including the development of BU’s first Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs) and BU’s first affordable online at scale degree program (Questrom’s online MBA).
As a scholar, Chris is known for his pioneering research in the areas of online reputation mechanisms and user-generated content. He has authored a long list of highly cited publications and has consulted on these subjects for corporations and the U.S. Federal Government.
