New Microscope Gives Extra Boost to GSDM Predoctoral Urgent Care Department

The already-high standard of care in the GSDM predoctoral urgent care department is on the rise thanks to the installation of a microscope in May 2023.

Dr. Ana Keohane DMD 16, director of predoctoral urgent care and clinical associate professor of the department of general dentistry, said adding a microscope to the urgent care department will give predoctoral students the opportunity to learn how to treat endodontic emergencies efficiently and effectively using the most up-to-date technology and procedures.

Students in the Doctor of Dental Medicine Class of 2027 and the Doctor of Dental Medicine Advanced Standing Class of 2025 were formally welcomed to the Henry M. Goldman School of Dental Medicine during the Professional Ceremony on July 28 on Talbot Green. The Professional Ceremony was the culminating event in a week of informative and inspiring matriculation activities.

The Boston University Global Days of Service is a widely anticipated annual university-wide month of community service opportunities that encourages students, residents, faculty, staff, and alumni to give back to their local, national, and international communities.

Real Patients, Real Stories: Mother and Daughter with Dentinogenesis Imperfecta Share Their Experiences as Part of GSDM Rare Patient Seminar Series

In the latest GSDM Rare Patient Seminar Series, Criss Quigley and Ann Quigley, a mother and daughter duo who both have the rare dental disease dentinogenesis imperfecta, spoke to GSDM students about their lives with the disease and the legislative change they are hoping to obtain. The seminar series was created by Clinical Associate Professor Dr. Yoshiyuki Mochida in order to humanize uncommon oral-related diseases, giving dental students a one-of-a-kind exposure to real patients.
