For more than a decade, Boston University Henry M. Goldman School of Dental Medicine has partnered with the legendary Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum to provide its first-year Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) and Doctor of Dental Medicine Advanced Standing (DMD AS) students an immersive museum tour to challenge their observational and critical thinking skills.

Dentistry Across Continents: GSDM DMD Students Expand Cultural and Clinical Knowledge during 2023 International Externship Exchange Program Trips

The GSDM International Externship Exchange Program offers fourth year DMD students an opportunity to travel and learn directly from partnering dental schools. While each exchange program trip is different, all participating students gain global perspectives on healthcare systems and patient needs from clinical seminars and observing/assisting in clinical procedures. GSDM Student-Driven Project Targets Educating Underrepresented High School Students about Various Dental Professions

Dr. Michelle Henshaw SPH 96 DPH 07, GSDM associate dean of global & population health, said high school students from diverse backgrounds need more exposure to various dental career opportunities before they need to plan their educational paths. Since 2020, Henshaw has been working with oral healthcare students to develop an online presentation aimed at high school student populations that are historically underrepresented in the dental profession.
