Matriculation sessions are designed to help our pre-doctoral and post-doctoral students transition to life at GSDM
Students should check their BU email frequently to stay up to date on orientation materials and time-sensitive documents. To ensure you receive important mailings, you must contact Admissions to update your address, email, and telephone information.

Predoctoral matriculation is the official enrollment of students into a doctoral program prior to earning a doctoral degree.

Postdoctoral matriculation marks the official start of postdoctoral training following completion of a doctoral degree.
Matriculation Ambassadors
Apply to become a GSDM Matriculation Ambassador for 2026 and play a key role in welcoming and supporting incoming students. Ambassadors serve as a resource, leader, and representative of the GSDM community throughout the matriculation process.

Pre-Matriculation Health Requirements
All incoming pre-doctoral students and post-doctoral residents must provide certain health history information before arriving on campus.
Massachusetts law requires that you have certain immunizations before coming to school.
Please review the Health Requirement Guide in detail. This guide is designed to walk you through all the necessary steps to submit the required information before you arrive on campus.
Please do not contact Admissions or Student Affairs regarding your medical records or send them any health history or immunization forms. These offices are not allowed to see your protected health information and they do not have access to your student medical record.
A Guide to Graduate Student Health Insurance: BU Graduate Education has a series of videos that provide an overview to the Boston University Student Health Insurance Plan (SHIP) on their website.
If you have questions and need to send a secure message to Student Health Services, please use the following steps:
- Log intoPatient Connect (using your BU login and Kerberos password)
- Once in Patient Connect, choose the “Messages” option on the left-hand side of the screen
- Choose “New Message” and select the option that is most suitable for your request

NOTE: There is no graduate housing for GSDM students on the medical campus. Graduate housing is located on BU’s Fenway and Charles River Campuses, but there is a free, intercampus shuttle that does come to the medical campus.
