2026 Conference on the Jewish Left Call for Workshop Proposals

DEADLINE November 17, 2025 at Noon

The 2026 Conference on the Jewish Left, taking place at Boston University on Thursday, February 12, 2026, will feature workshops led by progressive organizations, Jewish community organizations, or established scholars dedicated to fostering learning, skill-building, and networking. These workshops will engage deeply with contemporary challenges and aim to inspire collaborative strategies that reflect the evolving landscape of the Jewish left today. Are you a progressive or Jewish community organization that can lead a workshop for 50-100 people? If so, we want you to apply.

Application Instructions:

Please provide a short summary of 500 words about your proposed workshop. Include:

  • Title of workshop, names and qualifications of workshop facilitators.
  • Topic description including background information, e.g., why developing this skill is of interest to conference attendees.
  • Description of what participants will do during the workshop, e.g., chavrutah, small group discussion, exercises in fundraising, networking, discussions of spiritual practice and social change.
  • Three objectives for your workshop, i.e., what will participants learn?

Is your workshop intended to be held in person at BU, or could it be delivered to online attendees? What do you prefer? We expect to have 300-400 people in person, and equal numbers online. There will not be a hybrid option.

Details:

  • We are planning two periods of concurrent workshops during the conference, with 3-5 workshops per period including 1-2 online.
  • Workshops are 50 minutes long. One faculty member will be present in each workshop to support the leaders.
  • Each workshop can accommodate up to 100 people.
  • The workshop leader(s) will be paid a $250 honorarium (total per workshop) after the conference.
