Event Highlights: Haunted Sites and Immersive Plays

On Tuesday, October 3, we welcomed Yulia Ginis, founder and artistic director of Jerusalem’s Mystorin Theatre Group, for a conversation with Margaret Litvin, Associate Professor of Arabic & Comparative Literature, Department of World Languages & Literatures. The Mystorin Theatre Group specializes in outdoor, site-specific and immersive performances in alternative venues such as schools, disused malls, and Tel Aviv’s seven-story Central Bus Station. In a rare visit to the United States, Ginis discussed how Mystorin works with these haunted sites to produce what Time Out magazine has called “a mystical experience with a strong emotional impact.” This event was sponsored by the Jewish Cultural Endowment.
