With unwavering resolve, Justice Shah underscored the paramount importance of re-establishing the court’s legitimacy. He emphasized the critical role of public trust and confidence in the judiciary, stating, “In the past year, our court has lost some of its legitimacy, and we are diligently working to regain it.”

However, he did not shy away from addressing the pressing issue of unchecked power within the judiciary and its consequential impact on the court’s credibility. Justice Shah brought attention to the imperative need for a balanced and accountable system. He articulated his concern, saying, “The unchecked power of the Chief Justice to form benches, along with the frequent suo moto cases, has led to a perception of a one-man show, significantly denting the court’s credibility.”

Justice Shah emphasized the judiciary’s role in resolving disputes within the constitution, firmly stating, “Our mandate doesn’t extend to governing the country.” Finally, he expressed hope for a brighter future, a driving force behind his unwavering commitment, declaring, “It’s this hope that compels me to step into the court every day.
