Learning Community on Inclusive STEM Teaching

The Center for Teaching and Learning and Office of Professional Development and Postdoctoral Affairs (PDPA) invite faculty to join a Learning Community on inclusive teaching in STEM courses.  Over 6 weeks this fall, participants will deepen their awareness and ability to cultivate inclusive learning environments for all of their students.  

The Learning Community will have a synchronous and asynchronous component: participants will meet weekly over Zoom on Thursday mornings from 9:30-10:45 am during October and November to build on their asynchronous participation in the Inclusive STEM Teaching Project edX course, which was co-developed by PDPA.  

We invite applications from participants who will be able to:

  • enroll in and complete the Inclusive STEM Teaching Project asynchronous edX course
  • attend (6) 75-minute synchronous weekly Zoom meetings, as scheduled below:
    • 9:30-10:45 am ET on Thursdays, EDT, as scheduled below: 10/14, 10/21, 10/28, 11/4, 11/9 (we will be meeting on Tuesday this week at our usual time, 9:30-11:00 am), 11/18
  • share reflections and takeaways after the program in program evaluation surveys and with the BU community

The time commitment is 4-5 hours per week for 6 weeks.  This estimate includes time spent independently working through the course modules and participating in the weekly synchronous Zoom sessions.

We aim to form a cohort that reflects the diversity of the BU community.  

The CTL and PDPA will cover the cost of the verified certificate from edX indicating that you have successfully completed the course ($49).
