Assistant Professor of Pharmacology & Experimental Therapeutics
Director of the Laboratory of Human Induced Pluripotent Stem Cell Therapeutics
Research Interests
Dr. TCW is interested in understanding Alzheimer’s disease. Her research is focused on a mutant form of Apolipoprotein E (APOE), a major genetic risk factor for Alzheimer’s disease. These studies will provide an opportunity to evaluate the APOE genetic contribution to neurodegeneration associated with the disease by using brain cells derived from human induced pluripotent stem cells. Through this research, Dr. TCW hopes to better understand how the APOE gene mutation specifically contributes to Alzheimer’s.
