Dr. Anatoly Temkin Presents a Paper: “Integrating User Opinion in Decision Support Systems”
In March, Department of Computer Science Chair Dr. Anatoly Temkin presented his paper, “Integrating User Opinion in Decision Support Systems,” at the Future of Information and Communication Conference in San Francisco. The paper proposes a new approach to decision support systems (DSS), starting with the user first making their own unassisted decision αU, provided as an input to the algorithm. Then, if the algorithm disagrees with the user’s initial decision, it iteratively works with the user to converge on a common decision, or at least make the user reconsider input values that are inconsistent with αU. Dr. Temkin collaborated on the paper with S. Goldberg of Massachusetts General Hospital’s radiation oncology department; G. Katz of MIT’s department of mathematics; and MET computer science lecturer A. Beliaev.
