MLSC Internship Challenge 2026–2027 Applications Now Open
The Massachusetts Life Sciences Center (MLSC) has opened the application period for the 2026–2027 Internship Challenge, supporting internships taking place May 1, 2026, through April 30, 2027.
The Internship Challenge strengthens the talent pipeline for Massachusetts life sciences companies by providing college students with paid, hands-on work experience. The program enables small companies to hire interns by reimbursing stipends, creating hundreds of new opportunities each year. Since 2009, MLSC has supported 8,300+ internships across nearly 300 academic institutions and 1,250+ organizations statewide.
Program Highlights
- More than 600 paid internship opportunities will be offered this year.
- Open to students in any major, with most interns coming from Engineering, Biology, Chemistry, Computer/Data Science, and Business.
- Host companies provide a dedicated mentor and a project aligned with the student’s academic focus.
- Interns are paid at $20/hour, and MLSC reimburses eligible organizations up to $9,600 per intern (for 12 weeks).
Eligibility
Applicants must be enrolled in a Massachusetts college or university and meet one of the following:
4-Year Colleges / Universities
- Completion of at least freshman year before the internship, or
- Graduated within the past calendar year
- Graduate students must be enrolled in a master’s program or have graduated within the past year
- Students in doctoral or other advanced degree programs are not eligible
2-Year / Community Colleges & Certificate Programs
- Working toward an Associate’s degree or certificate, or
- Completed one within the past year
Application Information
- No deadline – placements are made on a rolling basis.
- Students are strongly encouraged to apply early for the best chance at a summer placement.
- Host organizations contact students directly for interviews.
