Business Continuity Analyst II

The Business Continuity Analyst role at the Federal Home Loan Bank of New York is an extremely important BC and DR focused role that will be responsible for operating the responsibilities in the below domains Bank wide:

Disaster Recovery: Responsible for creating, maintaining, updating, and testing disaster recovery procedures at the Bank. The analyst will work with all areas of technology to prepare for and perform application disaster recovery tests and environmental disaster recovery tests within the cloud environment and on-premise environment. The analyst will assist in troubleshooting issues as well as documenting issues and resolutions during testing. The analyst will become the “expert” in cloud and on-premise recovery capabilities. If an outage or actual recovery is needed the analyst will be considered critical staff and expected to support and manage the recovery.

Business Continuity: Responsible for working with multiple stakeholders across the Business (Business Continuity Coordinators, Plan Owners, Process Owners, Tech Support) to lead the creation, review, and update of a variety of Business Continuity plans, reviews, and assessments. The analyst will guide and lead meetings to identify the criticality of processes and applications across the Bank as a part of the Business Impact Analysis and Application Impact Analysis. The analyst will also guide and lead meetings with the business to identify and update recovery strategies based on the BIA/AIA data. The analyst will also create and offer suggestions for exercises that will be performed throughout the year to test business recovery strategies.

Crisis Management: The Business Continuity/Disaster Recovery team at the Bank is responsible for managing and leading the response to crisis events at the Bank. The analyst will be responsible for reviewing and updating the crisis management documentation throughout the year.

Required Technical Knowledge/Skills
The disaster recovery responsibilities in this job require a technically sound individual. In order to succeed in leading disaster recovery testing and events the analyst should have a working knowledge of networking concepts, cloud concepts, cloud recovery capabilities, types of application architectures, as well as resilience concepts such as HA, DB Clustering, Fault Tolerance, backups etc. The analyst should be able to review other types DR programs using such knowledge as well.
