Announcing New Master of Science in Health Informatics
The BU MET Department of Computer Science now offers the Master of Science in Health Informatics (MSHI), with optional concentrations in Applied Data Analytics (ADA) and Health Information Management (HIM).
The medical world’s increasing reliance on electronic health records to manage care and information for patients has created new career opportunities for IT professionals with the training and know-how to tackle healthcare-specific information challenges. The eight-course MSHI program (with two-course ADA or HIM degree specializations) helps meet this need through a curriculum that teaches students to develop effective algorithms, analyze big data, and visualize and present those findings in the ways sought after throughout the medical industry. Accredited by the Commission on Accreditation for Health Informatics and Information Management Education (CAHIIM), the degree program prepares graduates to sit for AHIMA professional HIM Certification Exams.
Students currently enrolled in the Master of Science in Computer Information Systems with a concentration in Health Informatics may choose to complete their current requirements or transition to the new degree program. Please email Ronette Lyle, academic program administrator at metcs@bu.edu or Piotr Mirza, online program coordinator at metcsol@bu.edu for further details.
