Systems Engineer at Jacobs’s Remote Sensing Division

Jacobs’s Remote Sensing Division is seeking a Systems Engineer with a background in Remote Sensing Systems. This engineer will help develop, mature, and sustain electro-optical remote sensing systems, in addition to integrating these systems onto airborne platforms. This position requires close interaction with a team of ~10 hardware and software engineers to ensure projects are being executed efficiently and effectively.

The systems engineer will assist in the creation of remote sensing camera systems, as well as the performance analysis and integration/test support thereof. A broad engineering background is required, from developing electromechanical and software systems, to working with COTS and custom hardware and software tools to collect and process imagery and geospatial data.

Candidates must be able to identify system performance drivers, prioritize issues based on system impact, and play a hands-on role in solving both hardware and software problems in a startup-like environment. Candidates must be adept at conducting technology assessments and conveying this information to the rest of the team.

Software background is desired, with the ability to use scripting languages such as Python to perform file IO, scientific programming and data analysis. Familiarity with various sensor modalities such as multi-spectral, hyperspectral, thermal, and lidar, is preferred, as is familiarity with common computing and networking hardware.

Most importantly, the ideal candidate will bring a drive to execute with quality, to learn and perform a broad set of tasks, and to coordinate effectively with others, putting the team first.
