Health Information Technician

Job Description
Located in the Framingham Heart Study of Boston University School of Medicine, this position is responsible for performing technical and administrative work as it relates to obtaining, analyzing and validating participants medical records for the catagorization and compliance with Framingham Heart Study (FHS) standard protocols and to ultimately to assure the integrity of the sequence of medical events database. Trains other employees for Health Information Management (HIM) issues with regard to confidentiality agreements and compliance. The position will invovle some general office work to perfom these duties and may require supervising student volunteers.

Required Skills
Bachelor’s degree required. 1-3 years of experience working with medical records is preferred.

This position should have knowledge of research methodology and medical terminology, general FOIA/Privacy Act, computer skills, and excellent organizational, customer services, and communication skills.
