Additional information on MET College Grading Policies for Spring Semester 2020
A letter from Dean Tanya Zlateva –
Dear Friends,
I commend you all on your resilience, flexibility, and fortitude during this difficult time.
To provide you with continued support and comfort towards the completion of your academic courses this semester, and as we respond to the global COVID-19 outbreak, Boston University has adopted a special grading policy for the spring 2020 semester, announced by University Provost Jean Morrison. If you have not had the opportunity to read that communication, I encourage you to do so.
As promised in the provost’s communication, I am writing to clarify the Credit (“CR”) grade thresholds for Metropolitan College (MET) courses as they will be applied at the course level:
MET Spring 2020 Credit (“CR”) Thresholds:
100- to 400-Level MET Courses
All students enrolled in MET courses numbered 100-400 level may opt for “CR” designation if they receive a letter grade of D or above.
500-Level MET Courses
Undergraduate degree students enrolled in MET 500-level courses may opt for a “CR” status if they earn a letter grade of D or above. Graduate and non-degree students enrolled in MET 500-level courses will follow grading guidelines for MET 600- or greater-level courses.
600- or greater-Level MET Courses
All graduate and non-degree students enrolled in MET 600- or greater-level courses who earn a letter grade of C- (C minus) or above may opt for a “CR” designation. Undergraduate degree students enrolled in MET 600+ courses may opt for a “CR” designation if they earn a grade of D or above.
Boston University will send detailed instructions regarding this selection process via email later this spring, and before April 30, 2020.
We realize you are experiencing difficulties and unusual circumstances this semester and hope that this special grading policy will help alleviate some stress. And, I would like to extend my appreciation for your patience, understanding, and cooperation as we continue to navigate the challenges before us.
Please stay safe and well,
Sincerely,
Tanya Zlateva
Dean, Metropolitan College
