Working under the general direction of the Data Warehouse Manager within the Physician Analytics & Business Intelligence department, the Database Administrator will:
Primary Responsibilities:
• Analyze business and technical requirements, as well as data warehouse data models, to understand the detailed data management requirements.
• Collaborate on data architecture design and planning as the subject-matter expert for the physical structure and implementation of data warehouses and data marts. This would include providing specifics for hardware layout and system settings (e.g., disk configuration, memory settings, and data page or tablespace definitions) and planning and creating databases.
• Design, document and build physical database environments from table, column, index and view definitions to storage requirements and drive spacing and growth accommodations.
• Work with ETL developers and data analysts to identify, design and implement solutions for extraction and integration of data to and from data warehouses and data marts for the purposes of reporting, decision support and analysis.
• Ensure the accuracy, reliability and scalability of the data as well as the processes implemented for data collection.
• Manage, Monitor and Administer database and system performance. Including optimization and tuning of data loads, extractions and recommending appropriate procedure, query or package changes and optimizations to ensure and improve system performance and reliability
• Manage job and activity schedules to promote optimal performance, maximum availability and minimize data latency and data load durations
• Work with the Data Architects to help implement the physical data model for the development and / or production environments.
• Set up new environments; install & configure software, build databases, create start/stop scripts, schedule jobs, etc.
• Work with business and data analysts to identify, design and implement custom user interface programs for data management and extraction purposes
