Software Engineer – Digital Forensics
Basis Technology has a Software Engineer opening in our Digital Forensics group in Cambridge, MA to build and maintain both open source and proprietary Java-based applications. This is a unique opportunity to build software based on open source applications (Autopsy and The Sleuth Kit) that are used by thousands of digital investigators worldwide. Responsibilities
- Participate in the design and implementation of our open source and proprietary digital forensics tools, such as Autopsy and The Sleuth Kit.
- Create new modules and expand the functionality of the underlying frameworks.
- Expand capabilities of both the desktop and client-server versions.
- Develop both graphical interfaces and backend software.
- Produce Java code in an agile development environment.
- Create user focused documentation.
Qualifications
- A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related discipline.
- 2+ years experience programming with Java or C++.
- 2+ years experience with database systems such as SQL Server, MSSQL, PostgreSQl, or SQLite.
- Working knowledge of Windows, Macintosh, and Linux operating systems.
- Working knowledge of data structures, algorithms, and object-oriented design.
- A proven ability to work independently and under tight timelines.
- The ability to convey technical information effectively and concisely to a wide range of audiences.
- Demonstrated experience working successfully with Agile software development strategies and methods.
- US Citizenship is required.
