Opportunity to Teach in Summer CyberSecurity Program
The College of Arts and Sciences is launching a new summer program, CyberSecurity 4 Girls and is seeking both undergrads and graduate students as teachers. The program will recruit girls who have just completed their freshman or sophomore year in high school and will take place at BU from July 18th to August 5th Monday-Friday from 9:00-3:00. The first week will focus on the students learning Python so that they will be better prepared for the lessons during the following two weeks which will focus on CyberSecurity in greater depth.
They will be hiring two graduate students to lead the lessons, as well as two undergraduate assistants who may also lead lesson whenever appropriate. In addition to the three weeks of the program, coordinators will be paid for two weeks of preparation (in total 5 weeks). They do have the curriculum from a similar course at NY Poly that we will build upon, and some faculty input will also be provided. It is probably best to begin preparation begin in June, but the exact timing is flexible.
Graduate students will be compensated $3250 for the five weeks and undergraduates $2500. Together, the four coordinators would take responsibility for preparing and delivering all of the curriculum during the program for approximately 20-24 high school girls. One or two field trips would be included as part of the program. Lunch each day will be provided.
