91 Bay State Road

The East Campus Redevelopment Project identified 91 Bay State Road (formerly Shelton Hall) as a new home for the Kilachand Honors College (KHC). Phase 1 was completed in August 2013 which repurposed the old Shelton Dining Hall and reconfigured the first floor for administrative and faculty spaces for the College.  The renovation included a seminar room, a large common room, and consolidation of residence life offices and services serving all students.

Phase 2 will continue the original concept by adding a new stair and elevator core on the west side of the building, redesign the student rooms around the new core making selected rooms ADA accessible and reconstructing the 9th floor with a new design to better serve the Honor’s College, the residents, and University community.  In the summer of 2019, exploratory work was performed to better understand existing building conditions, particularly mechanical systems and necessary façade restorations that were added to the scope of the project.  Construction began in May 2022 with completion expected in August 2023.
