Arctic Blast to Hit Boston
First the bad news: an Arctic front is expected to arrive tomorrow, bringing Boston its first dangerous cold snap of the season. Temperatures are predicted to go down to 5 degrees Thursday night (with a daytime high of 25) and as low as zero on Friday.
$2M Gift Names the Dahod Family Alumni Center
Alumni will soon have a new home on campus, thanks to a $2 million gift from BU trustee Shamim Dahod (CGS’76, CAS’78, MED’87) and her husband, Ashraf Dahod, for the creation of the Dahod Family Alumni Center in the BU Castle, which will be renovated starting next spring.
Comm Ave – CAP 2A Construction Activity – Water Shutdowns 881, 871, and 855 Comm
Due to construction related to the Commonwealth Avenue Phase 2A project, water service will be shut off at 881, 871, and 855 Commonwealth Avenue between the hours of 11 p.m. and 5 a.m. so work can be performed.
Myles Standish Hall – Saturday Work –12-17-16
On Saturday, the following construction work will be occurring onsite from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Activities will require workers, trucks, and equipment in the point park. The man and material hoist will be running. The crane will be active on Bay State Road and Beacon Street.
CILSE – Construction Activity – Week of 12/11/16
The sidewalk will be closed periodically along Commonwealth Avenue for vehicle access on the College of Communication and Morse Auditorium sides of the site. As usual, Turner will notify BUPD in advance and will have both BUPD and Boston PD controlling public safety and directing pedestrians and vehicles.

Verizon Off-Hours Work – 12/11/16 to 12/15/16 – Verizon has informed us that they will be working on site from 7:00 p.m. to 12:00 a.m. from Sunday to Wednesday. Verizon’s work is unrelated to the project.
BU Theatre Center – Construction Activity – 12/9/16 – 12/19/16
Pile Cap Completion – Structural pile and cap placement and placement of gravel at “D” column line. Reinforced Concrete Foundation Wall Placement – Walls will be placed at the perimeter of the building footprint. The last concrete placement is scheduled for 12/19/16.

CILSE – Construction Activity – Week of 12/4/16
The sidewalk will be closed periodically along Commonwealth Avenue. There will be fence and signage on either side of the sidewalk notifying the public that the sidewalk is closed and the bike lane may not be used by pedestrians.

Load out at Beacon Street – Load out demolition debris from 1st floor to dumpster with ongoing daily dumpster swaps. Demolition of floor 1 (interior). Continue rebuilding exterior façade on the Beacon Street and Bay State Road sides of the building.
