Warren Towers Renovation Construction Update – 9/25/2026

General Project Information

  • The team is currently in the main renovation phase of the project.
  • Weekday shifts run from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. (1st shift) and 3:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. (2nd shift). Weekend shifts run from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. (1st shift).
  • Work on the exterior, outside and adjacent to student rooms, will be performed from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
  • Work on the street level, inside the fenced construction area, and deliveries will begin at 7:00 a.m.
  • Anyone entering the jobsite must be authorized personnel, as no trespassing is permitted. Anyone wishing to enter the site must sign in at the construction field office and observe and comply with all posted signage and personal protective equipment requirements.

Pictured are the catch basin repairs on Cummington Mall.
  • Daily deliveries of construction materials and the load-out of demolition debris dumpsters are ongoing.
  • The two-car personnel and materials hoist way is in operation for Tower B.
    • The elevator operators begin their daily safety checks and preventative maintenance on the hoist way at 6:00 a.m.

Interior Work 

Main Entrance Lobby 

  • Fire alarm monitoring and programing work is ongoing in fire command center.

4th Floor

  • Construction staff will be onsite all weekend monitoring the inside of the building, looking to respond to any storm related water intrusion.

Tower A 

  • Crews may need to access and work on the low roofs (east and west of Tower A) adjacent to student rooms.
  • Please keep blinds, drapes, and window treatments closed for privacy. 

Tower B

  • Demolition is ongoing, and debris is loaded into hampers, transported, and emptied into dumpsters located in the construction loading dock.
  • Survey crews are setting benchmarks and layout points on each floor.   
  • Floor slab leveling, coring, cutting, and grinding is ingoing.
  • Cutting of the concrete slab edge at every widow opening is ongoing.

  • Installation of fire protection sprinkler risers, mains, branch lines and heads is ongoing.
  • Rough HVAC sheet metal ductwork, piping, and controls wiring is ongoing.
  • Fuel oil riser installation is ongoing.

  • Rough electrical and fire alarm work is ongoing.

  • Plumbers are installing new equipment, water and drain lines in the basement, 1st, 2nd, 3rd levels.
  • Concrete and steel structural repair work continues in the parking garage on 1st, & 2nd, 3rd floors.
  • Sprinkler work on all levels and will be ongoing.
  • Excavation and installation of new drainage piping, gas and oil separator equipment in the basement is ongoing.

  • Masons will continue exterior brick veneer restoration work, selective demolition, and the installation of restoration anchors, air, water, and vapor barriers, new lintels, flashings, and relieving angles.
  • Steel stud framing and sheathing at exterior window walls and openings is ongoing.
  • Installation of air and water barriers is ongoing.
  • Installation of windows is ongoing.

Upper Roof

  • New parapet construction is ongoing.
  • Masonry restoration on the elevator machine room headhouse is ongoing.
  • Work on the structural stub columns is ongoing.
  • Concrete cutting and coring at the fresh air duct risers is ongoing.
  • Concrete curbs for mechanical penthouse are ongoing.
  • Installation of new roofing system is ongoing

Hinsdale Mall & East Elevation

  • Masons will continue with exterior brick veneer restoration work, selective demolition, installation of restoration anchors, air water and vapor barriers, new lintels, flashings, and relieving angles.

Cummington Mall West & West Elevation

  • Metal panel installation/punch list is ongoing.

Cummington Mall

In and around the fenced area.

  • Beginning Monday, a large crane will be set up within the fence line, West of the construction loading dock to hoist the roof platform and penthouse steel onto the upper roof of Tower B.
  • Daily deliveries of construction materials and the load-out of demolition debris dumpsters are ongoing.
  • The two-car personnel and materials hoist way is in operation for Tower B.
    • The elevator operators begin their daily safety checks and preventative maintenance on the hoist way at 6:00 a.m.

  • Jackhammer demolition will be ongoing and produce intermittent noise.
