Warren Towers Construction Update – 8/8/26

General Project Information

  • Warren Towers Dining Hall, Offices, Student Rooms, Parking Garage (Lot K), and Bike Storage Room are now closed for the summer.
  • Weekday shifts run from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. (1st shift) and 3:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. (2nd shift). Weekend shifts run from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. (1st shift) and 3:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. (2nd shift).
  • Entering the jobsite: Authorized personnel only and no trespassing. Anyone wishing to enter the site must sign in at the construction field office, observe and comply with all posted signage and personal protective equipment requirements.

Exterior Work

South Alley

  • Concrete and steel structural repair work continues.

Tower A

  • Completing minor punch list work on the lower levels.
  • Flashing tie-in work at exterior wall and podium roof intersections.
  • Mechanical equipment start-up and commissioning.
  • Final cleaning.

Tower B

  • Exterior window abatement demolition.
  • Masons will continue with exterior brick veneer restoration work, selective demolition, installation of restoration anchors, air, water, and vapor barriers, new lintels, flashings, and relieving angles.
  • New parapet construction is ongoing.
  • Masonry restoration on the elevator machine room headhouse.
  • Work on structural stub columns.
  • Concrete cutting and coring at fresh air duct risers.

Tower C

  • Staging removal.

Podium A Roof

  • Installation of new roofing and flashing systems.
  • Start-up, testing, and commissioning of new mechanical equipment.

Podium B Roof

  • Installation of new roofing and flashing systems.
  • Skylight replacement.
  • Start-up, testing, and commissioning of new mechanical equipment.

Podium C Roof

  • Staging laydown area.
  • Staging support steel work for Tower C.

Podium D/Multipurpose Roof

  • Staging laydown area.
  • Staging support steel work for Tower C.
  • Work continues constructing the new Boiler Room.

West Podium Terrace

  • Assembly and installation of heat pumps and condensers, piping, and electrical connections.
  • HVAC equipment start-up and commissioning.
  • Work on the acoustic roof screen assembly is ongoing.

Commonwealth Ave.

  • Masons will continue with exterior brick veneer restoration work, selective demolition, installation of restoration anchors, air, water, and vapor barriers, new lintels, flashings, and relieving angles.

Cummington Mall

In and around the fenced area.

  • Daily deliveries of construction materials and load-out of demolition debris dumpsters.
  • Two-car personnel and materials hoist way in operation for Tower B.
    • The elevator operators begin their safety checks and preventative maintenance on the hoist way daily at 6:00 a.m.

Main Entrance Lobby

  • Escalator touch-ups, adjustments, and punch list work.
  • Patching, painting, and final cleaning is ongoing.

Tower A

  • Interior final cleaning is ongoing.
  • All trades are working on punch list items and touchups identified by the design team.
  • Third-party commissioning of all systems is ongoing.

  • Demolition is ongoing. Debris is loaded into hampers, transported, and emptied into dumpsters located in the construction loading dock.
  • Abatement is ongoing. Debris is loaded into trailers located in the construction loading dock.
  • Floor slab coring, cutting, and grinding is ongoing.
  • Cutting of the concrete slab edge at every window opening is ongoing.
  • Installation of structural steel reinforcement and beam penetrations is ongoing.

Tower C

  • Flooring repair at abatement areas in the corridors.
  • Installation of staging tie-back hardware and covers in the south student rooms.

Dining Hall

  • Construction is near completion, and punch list work is ongoing.
  • Food service stations and equipment installation.

  • Abatement is ongoing. Debris is loaded into trailers located in the construction loading dock.

  • Parking Garage, Loading Dock, and Bicycle Storage reopening is planned for Thursday, August 13.
  • Electricians will continue running wiring and conduits throughout the parking garage on the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd levels.
  • Plumbers are installing new equipment, water, and drain lines in the basement and on the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd levels.
  • Concrete and steel structural repair work continues throughout the parking garage.
  • Sprinkler work on all levels is ongoing.
  • Masons are installing block walls in the new Mechanical and Electrical Rooms.
  • Excavation and installation of new drainage piping, gas and oil separator equipment in the basement.
  • Installation of new parking entrance and exit gates.

Future / Notable Tasks

  • The construction team is actively working on obtaining designer affidavits, final inspections, and temporary occupancy permits.
  • Preparing owner operations and maintenance manuals.
  • Dining Hall turnover is planned for August 20, 2026.
