Warren Towers Construction Update – 5/15/26

General Project Information

  • The building is now closed for the Summer
  • Warren Towers Parking Garage (Lot K) summer closure begins on 5/19/26 for repair work
  • Weekday and weekend shifts run from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. (1st shift), 3:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. (2nd shift), and 11:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m. (3rd shift). 
  • The team is currently in the main renovation phase of the project.
  • Entering the jobsite: Authorized personnel only and no trespassing. Anyone wishing to enter the site must sign in at the construction office, observe and comply with all posted signage and personnel protective equipment requirements.

During the Weekend of 5/16/26

Saturday & Sunday (1st, 2nd & 3rd shift)

Exterior Work

Tower A

  • Crews will continue disassembling staging.
  • Masons are working on punch list items and touchups identified by the design team.
  • Installation of new door opening on the sidewalk at the fire pump room on the street level.
  • Installation of windows and metal trim and caulking.
  • Disassembly of the hoist way access bridge and staging disassembly.

  • Work on the emergency backup generator connections continues.
  • Work continues inside the new mechanical penthouse and emergency electric room.
  • Assembly/installation of DOAS unit, piping, sheet metal ductwork and electrical connections.
  • Installation of metal panel roof screen.

Tower B

  • Staging crews will continue assembling scaffolding on levels 5 through 18.

Podium Roofs

  • Construction of new masonry parapets.
  • Demolition of existing roofing systems, mechanical equipment, penthouses, and skylights is in progress.

  • Assembly of weather protective covering of the existing skylight.
  • Roof areas are being used for staging and laydown, including support steel installation for Tower C.
  • Assembly/installation of heat pumps and condensing units, piping, and electrical connections.
  • Work on the acoustic roof screen assembly is ongoing.
  • Work continues on constructing the new boiler room.

    Cummington Mall

    Pictured is the construction loading dock of Tower B
      • Two-car personnel and materials hoist way remains in operation.
        • (The elevator operators begin their safety checks and preventative maintenance on the hoistway daily at 6:00 AM)

      Cummington Mall West

      • BUPD detail officers and construction staff will be on-site to assist with pedestrian and vehicular traffic.

      Hinsdale Mall

      • Warren Towers garage (Lot K) will remain open for normal operation over the weekend.
      • Please watch for sidewalk closures, BUPD detail officers, cones, and observe posted signage.

      Interior Work

      Main Entrance Lobby

      • Escalator replacement in progress.

      Tower A

      • Steel stud framing of interior partitions and soffits.
      • Installation of hollow metal door frames.
      • Application of spray fireproofing, expanding foam insulation, and firestopping continues.
      • New window installation continues in the south rooms.
      • Drywall installation and taping.
      • Plaster patching at columns and beams continues.
      • Stair handrail and riser alterations.
      • Prime and painting of walls, ceilings, soffits, doors, and door frames.
      • Floor preparation, waterproofing, and tile installation are ongoing in the core bathrooms.
      • Resilient flooring and base installations in student dorm rooms.
      • Wall tile installation in corridors.
      • Installation of doors, hardware, millwork, and accessories.
      • Installation of solid surface countertops, windowsills, and wall panels.
      • Installation of window treatments.
      • Modernization and daily operation of the Tower elevators by Otis Elevator Company continues.
      • Finish plumbing, electrical, mechanical, and fire protection in progress.
      • Interior final cleaning is ongoing.

      Dining Hall

      • Demolition of floors, walls, ceilings, exterior windows, and all mechanical systems.
      Pictured is the removal of the dining hall window.
      • Work on structural steel roof supports.
      • New rough plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and fire protection sprinkler.
      • The Dining Hall Renovation work is planned for 3 shifts, 7 Days a week until opening in the Fall.

      Parking Garage

      • Dining Hall fright elevator modernization by Otis.
      • Electricians will continue running wiring and conduits. throughout the parking garage, 1st, 2nd, and 3rd levels.
      • Installation and assembly of the electrical gear continues.
      • Plumbers are installing new equipment, water, and drain lines in the basement, 1st, 2nd, and 3rd levels.
      • Installation of mechanical piping continues.
      • Construction of the new fuel storage room is ongoing in the southeast basement level of the parking garage.
      • MDF room construction continues
      • Concrete and steel structural repair work continues in the parking garage on 1st, 2nd, and 3rd floors.
      • Assembly of the main fire pump room and sprinkler work on all levels will be ongoing.
      • Work on the fuel oil storage and pump system on the basement level
      • Masons are installing block walls in the new mechanical & electric rooms.
      • Please watch for adjusted parking patterns, BUPD detail officers, cones, and observe signage.
