Our Facilities Management & Operations (FMO) team and multiple vendors are working diligently to maintain our building systems as we navigate through a period of high heat and humidity. Due to the temperatures, our air conditioning systems are operating at maximum capacity. However, with temperatures over 90 degrees, these systems may not deliver the same comfort cooling that they normally provide. We appreciate your understanding and cooperation as we respond to these conditions.
While our team is actively monitoring and addressing issues, we understand that problems may arise. We kindly request your patience and cooperation in reporting any building-related concerns to our Facilities Operations & Services Center at 617-353-2105 (CRC) or the Control Center at 617-358-4144 (BUMC).
In light of the high heat and humidity, we urge all students, faculty, and staff to take precautions against heat-related illnesses or injuries. Here are some essential tips to stay safe:
- Limit outdoor activities and strenuous work between 10 am and 3 pm and/or temperature exceeds 90 degrees.
- Stay well-hydrated by drinking plenty of fluids. Bottle-filling stations can be found across campus.
- Seek shaded areas when outdoors.
- Wear light-colored, loose-fitting clothing and apply sunscreen.
If you believe you or someone else may be experiencing a heat-related illness, please take immediate action. On the Charles River Campus, call BUPD at 617-353-2121, or on the Medical Campus, call 617-358-4444. If you are off-campus, dial 911 for emergency assistance.
Your safety and well-being are our top priorities, and we are committed to providing a comfortable and secure campus environment. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation during this period.
