Center for Computing & Data Sciences – Construction Update – 1/14/22

During the weekend of January 15th

  • On Saturday, crews will continue buildout of elevators 4, 5, and 6 in the tower core with the focus being on framing the front walls. Installation of mechanical, plumbing, and fire protection rough will continue. Crews will be on site assembling and installing curtain wall panels.  Mechanical and plumbing equipment will arrive on site Saturday and will be hoisted to the tower’s mechanical room on the 18th floor. Installation of the monumental stair will continue.

During the week of January 17th

  • Installation of curtain wall panels at the tower will continue on the 6th and 7th floors. Delivery and assembly of the panels before installation will continue on the floors above.
  • In the subbasement wall painting has begun.
  • In the lower level, crews from the mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) subcontractors will continue installing their respective systems. Insulating and hanging drywall will continue.
  • On floors 2 through 5 wall framing, overhead MEP rough installation continues.
  • On floors 6 through 16 of the tower, the MEP subcontractors will continue installing electrical conduit, hangers, and piping. Wall and framing will occur in select areas.
  • Crews will begin applying a fireproof coating to the interior steel beams and columns for the tower’s 15th and 16th floor framing.
  • Installation of the atrium monumental stair will continue.
  • Within the alleyway the site contractor will begin trenching and installing piping to connect the individual geothermal wells into a circuit before connecting to the building.
  • Installation of the roofing system at the podium will continue as weather allows.
  • The elevator subcontractor will continue framing the elevator cabs and fronts for elevators 4, 5, and 6, located on the south side of the tower’s core.
  • Trucking activity to and from the site will be occurring daily with trucks entering and exiting the designated gates.
