Are you looking for an exciting study abroad experience?
Boston University Philhellenes – BUPh and the Department of Classical Studies at Boston University join forces for the Study in Greece and the BA Program in the Archaeology, History and Literature of Ancient Greece at the University of Athens – the most prominent Greek state university – to organize the “Voyage into Greek Civilization Summer Program.” This 5-week study abroad offers students the opportunity to dive into Greek culture and history by taking a Modern Greek language and culture course taught by Boston University Senior Lecturer Kelly Polychroniou or a 200 Philosophy course: ‘Virtue and the virtues of a leader in ancient Greek Philosophy” taught by Professors from the University of Athens. They will also be leading guided tours. The courses taken are approved for transfer to Boston University.
The program also includes weekend trips and guided tours taught by professors from the University of Athens.

Cost
Approximately $6,500 with scholarships of $1,500 available for qualified Boston University students.

Application Process
Students who wish to participate in the 2025 Boston University Summer Program in Greece should submit the following materials to the Department of Classical Studies (STH 414) by March 7th, 2025.
- An interest form: here.
- Your unofficial transcript (you can print one from the Student Link)
- A brief statement explaining why you would like to study in Greece.
- A writing sample (a paper submitted for one of your classes).
Applications will be reviewed in March and students will be notified if their application has been successful.
Housing
Students reside in boutique hotel rooms located in the historic heart of Athens, only a few minutes walk from the Acropolis.
Excursions
Students will have the opportunity to visit famous Greek landmarks and influential moments of the Greek world such as: the Temple of Poseidon in Sounio, the ancient Theatre of Epidaurus, Mycenae, the historic city of Nafplio, and the mythical site of Delphi. The program also includes a visit to one island (Hydra or Spetses).
