Classical Studies PhD Student
He/Him
Benji grew up outside of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He earned his BA in Classics from Washington and Lee University, completing half of his degree in Virginia and half abroad, split between Athens, Oxford, Rome, and Graz. He then returned to Athens for his Post-Bacc and thereafter to Graz for his two-year teaching position with Fulbright Austria. Benji intends to focus his research on the depictions of the rustics, the pastoral mode, and notions of belonging within ancient Greek and Latin prose and poetry. While outside of the Department, Benji hopes to keep hiking, exploring Appalachian folk traditions, and furthering his studies in Germanic literatures.
