Announcing the annual Antonis Fragoudakis Memorial Award

The Department of Classical Studies is delighted to announce a new award in the department, the Antonis Fragoudakis Memorial Award (established 2022). This award, which has been funded by a generous gift from Prof. Roselita Fragoudakis in memory of her father, will be given out annually to a student who demonstrates outstanding achievement in the study of Modern Greek language and culture at Boston University.

The inaugural recipient of the Antonis Fragoudakis Memorial Award is Emmanuel Smirnakis. Remarkably, Emmanuel is only a high school junior at Boston University Academy, but he has already distinguished himself among university students in classes in Modern Greek. We congratulate Emmanuel for his achievement, and extend our deep thanks to Prof. Roselita Fragoudakis for this inspiring gift.
