Third Annual UCA GORE-FEST
The UCA held its third annual GORE-FEST on Thursday, October 26th. Attendees were treated to suspenseful and sanguine readings of passages from Lucan’s Pharsalia, Euripides’ Orestes, and Seneca’s Thyestes, all filled with gruesome imagery of disemboweling, murder, deceit, baby-eating, and all other tragic themes we know and love. The student and faculty actors gave fantastic performances decked in outlandish costumes and props that set the mood and added to the intrigue and drama of the night.
The winner of our costume contest was Emily Damiano, again! She came dressed as the Empress Messalina, third wife of the fourth Roman Emperor Claudius.
Since GORE-FEST’s first iteration two years ago, helmed by Sophie Klein, the event has grown in popularity and appeal, quickly becoming one of the department’s and UCA’s most anticipated, beloved, and enjoyed events.
