Katie Massengill is a student administrator with the Cinema & Media Studies Program. She assists with administrative tasks, organizing events, and student outreach within the program.

She is currently a senior at BU pursuing a BA in Cinema & Media Studies with a minor in Women’s, Gender & Sexuality Studies. She is particularly interested in the intersection of media and gender/sexuality, as well as fan and fandom studies. In high school, she completed her senior thesis, “The Use and Effectiveness of Narrative Fiction as Therapeutic Treatment.”

Katie’s love of storytelling stems from being an avid reader as a child and has expanded to encompass a love of all forms of narrative. Recently, she has become particularly infatuated with 2D animation, and her favorite film isĀ Howl’s Moving Castle, although it is subject to change at any moment.

Due to her life-long engagement with stories and fandom communities, she truly believes in the power of art, media, and storytelling, and she will always be a defender of the geeks, nerds, and weirdos.
