About the Position:

The BU College of Fine Arts Communications office is looking to hire two to three current Boston University students as event photographers to start as soon as possible.

We seek creative and hard-working students with a keen eye for detail who enjoy capturing the attendees, happenings, environment, and moments of CFA events.

Tasks include attending weekly events and taking photos and videos (with a mobile device) to be used by the CFA Communications office for CFA’s social media channels, website, digital screens, and other platforms.

The students will work closely with the CFA Director of Communications, CFA Assistant Director of Communications, and CFA Communications Manager in identifying events to cover that don’t conflict with the students’ class schedules. Student photographers are expected to submit the photos they take in a timely manner to the CFA Communications team.

The types of events include:

  • Art exhibitions in CFA’s various gallery spaces
  • Music concerts in the CFA Concert Hall or Tsai Performance Center
  • Theatre productions at the Joan & Edgar Booth Theatre and other theatre spaces across CFA
  • Student social events hosted by CFA’s Student Services office or the CFA Dean’s office
  • Select masterclasses and lectures
  • Other art events in the University that are co-hosted by CFA

Qualifications:

  • Be a current BU student (all majors are welcome to apply)
  • Strong photography skills
  • A team player, detail-oriented, and excellent time management
  • Have a professional attitude, be personable, and feel comfortable capturing photos of events that may have 10 to 100 attendees
  • Keep up to date with the latest photography skills (and social media photography)
  • Interest in the arts – music, theatre, visual arts

Students may use their own camera or mobile device to capture photos, but have the option to use the office’s in-house camera.

Hours are flexible and may vary depending on the number of events happening at CFA in a given week. We expect student photographers to work anywhere from one to five hours a week. This position works at CFA’s Communications office on the BU West Campus at 855 Commonwealth Avenue.

Having a Work-Study grant is required for employment.
