Fellows 2018-19
(L to R): The 2018-19 CFA Fellows included Dzidzor Azaglo, Corianna Moffatt, Anaís Azul, and Michael Ofori.

CFA invites artists with an interest in community, art education, and social justice to apply to one of our 10-month long Fellowship programs for 2019-20. The Fellows will receive a $10,000 stipend and are expected to spend the equivalent of one day a week at the respective Fellowship throughout the academic year.

Artist in Residence at Rosie’s Place

The Artist in Residence at Rosie’s Place is a 10-month Fellowship for a practicing visual artist. It is an opportunity to explore bringing an artistic practice to the day-to-day reality of a women’s shelter––a creative challenge to identify, envision and implement art making experiences that ignite care and dignity for the Rosie’s Place community. The Fellow will receive comprehensive mentorship and guidance from Moises Fernandez Via, founding director of this initiative, as well as the Rosie’s Place Education Department.

In addition to the Fellowship stipend, there are funds to purchase any needed materials throughout the year.

The Fellow will be expected to spend 4 hours at Rosie’s Place two mornings per week between the hours of 8am-1pm.

Boston Medical Center

CFA seeks two candidates in the disciplines of music and theatre to join the 2019-20 cohort of CFA Fellows. During the 10-month residency, the Fellows are given an opportunity to bring their artistic practice in direct contact with the day-to-day reality of Boston Medical Center. The resulting work is expected to contribute to creative research in the field of arts and health, creativity and well-being.

CFA recent graduates or current students at a senior or graduate level are invited to apply. During the 10-month residency at Boston Medical Center, artists are responsible for envisioning and fully implementing an independent artistic project in one of the following areas:

  1. Projects related to re-imagining clinical settings and patient care from a lens of a culture of health.
  2. Projects that explore the idea of patient as artist and other co-creation collaborative initiatives.
  3. Projects that bring forth an opportunity to honor and celebrate the human richness and wisdom of our highly diverse community at Boston Medical Center.

The Fellows will enjoying comprehensive mentorship and training from Moises Fernandez Via, founding director of this initiative, in the areas of community engagement, patient interaction, creative research and clinical assessment. The Fellows are expected to consistently spend at least one day a week at BMC throughout the academic year.
